Fragment 3 — What feels hardest right now?
Today, like every day, is a beginning.
Take a breath now as though nothing has gone before this moment.
The breath waits for you — simple, steady, always near.
Finding stillness? Slowing down? Remembering to breathe? Or something else?
Most people assume I’m a yoga teacher because I’m a calm person.
The fact is, I need stillness more than most.
A lot of people are busy. Some are busy and chaotic. Some are busy and running away from things. Most people live with a manageable busyness — the kind that serves a purpose, the kind that stops us from looking into the deep, dark corners of our lives.
I chose fear over busyness. I’d rather feel my authentic fear than chase an artificial equilibrium. I’d rather pay the price of admission today than kick the can down the road.
As yogis, we’re good at selling the beauty of stillness — and yes, the depths of stillness carry untold gifts. But we’re terrible at pointing out the price of admission.
Coming home to yourself isn’t fearful; I just happened to pick up that idea along the way.
What ideas have you picked up along the way that stop you coming home to stillness?
We are here for the work.
That is enough.
God Bless
